Background
Dubai is set to become a hub for ultra-fast electric vehicle (EV) charging as forEVo announces plans to install 200 advanced charging stations across the UAE within two years. These chargers will allow most electric cars to charge from 0 to 80% in just 15 to 20 minutes, about the time it takes to enjoy a coffee.
The initial stage of launch will include 10 stations in the near future. The network will grow to 50 stations by 2026, and forEVo plans to have 200 stations running by 2027. The new network will facilitate the push of green mobility in the UAE since the nation has a rapidly expanding EV market. The proportion of electric cars sold as new cars in the UAE in 2023 increased to 13 percent compared to less than 1 percent in 2021. Dubai alone has an excess of 40,000 registered EVs.
Anna Tsenter, CEO of forEVo, said the company’s ultra-fast chargers deliver up to 180 kW of power using advanced Direct Current (DC) technology. While charging speed depends on the vehicle and battery type, the system is designed to make long journeys more convenient for EV owners.
forEVo follows a zero-investment model for venue partners. “We only need land and grid load. We cover all hardware, installation, and maintenance,” Tsenter explained. The chargers will be installed at places with high traffic, such as malls, business centers, and transit points.
The company equally emphasizes sustainability, modular designs to upgrade easily, and other features such as load balancing to decrease grid pressure. There will be various payment methods, such as tap cards and mobile apps.
In future, forEVo aims to increase its network to 500 stations in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), where AI will be used to control energy consumption and anticipate demand.
