Background

Revibe, a refurbished electronics marketplace in Dubai, raised $17 million (about Dh62.4 million) to speed up its regional expansion and improve quality standards. Global investment firm Partech led the funding round, joined by E& Capital, Burda Principal Investments, EQNX, and existing investors.

The company said the new capital will support improvements in quality control, customer experience, and technology, while helping Revibe expand from the Gulf into Africa and other emerging markets. Co-founder and co-CEO Hamza Iraqui described the investment as a strong endorsement of the company’s belief that refurbished devices can perform “as good as new” while offering lower prices and a reduced environmental footprint.

Revibe, launched in 2022, operates in the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and South Africa, with Egypt serving as a major operations base. Iraqui said the company’s biggest competitor is not another platform but the habit of buying brand-new devices. He noted that in markets where frequent upgrades are common, trust remains the key barrier.

To build that trust, each device listed on Revibe undergoes a 50-point inspection and is sold with a 12-month warranty supported by in-house customer care. The company does not keep stock. The company runs a marketplace where approved sellers list devices. It watches sellers’ performance closely and keeps only those with good quality records on the platform.

Revibe earns revenue through commissions on sales and invests heavily in technology, marketing, and customer support. The company currently focuses on smartphones and laptops but is expanding into tablets, smartwatches, TVs, and other electronics. Iraqui said the company wants people across the region to choose refurbished products as a normal option, not just as a way to save money.
