The Dubai Chamber of Commerce has launched the Cyprus Business Council to strengthen trade and investment between Dubai and Cyprus. The council will help companies, investors and innovators from both markets, while creating fresh business opportunities across key sectors.
The launch comes as economic ties between the two sides grow steadily. In 2024, Dubai and Cyprus traded AED 588 million in goods and services, showing that Dubai is becoming an important hub for Cypriot businesses. By the end of September 2025, 612 Cypriot companies were active in the Dubai Chamber, and 71 new firms joined during the first nine months of the year.
The Cyprus Business Council recently convened its inaugural Annual General Meeting. The meeting was attended by George Papanastasiou, Minister of Energy, Commerce, and Industry of Cyprus, along with senior UAE officials, including Abdullah Ahmed Al Saleh and Maha Al Gargawi from Dubai Chambers.
Papanastasiou said the council offers a structured platform for joint ventures, knowledge exchange, and sustainable growth. He noted that its formation marks a strong step toward strengthening the economic bridge between Cyprus and the UAE.
Speaking at the event, Al Gargawi highlighted the importance of Business Councils in linking Dubai with global markets and supporting international investors. She reaffirmed Dubai Chambers’ commitment to helping these councils expand cooperation worldwide.
Dubai Chambers President and CEO Mohammad Ali Rashed Lootah said the new council will support the entry and expansion of Cypriot companies in Dubai and beyond. He added that the initiative reinforces Dubai’s position as a global business hub and a preferred destination for international investors.
