Teresa Lawrence’s leadership starts much earlier than titles and positions. It started at her personal level. She has shown resilience, compassion, and unrelenting determination in empowering people, as shown in her leadership journey. Since her childhood as a Cuban immigrant, attracting thousands of youth around the globe, Teresa’s journey has been full of resilience and purpose.

Presently, through her teaching, counseling, and societal programs, she still motivates people to follow their truth and also uses leadership as a way of positive impact.

Another defining moment in Teresa’s journey occurred in September 2023 during a visit to Kenya. What began as a meaningful trip soon transformed into a powerful awakening. During her time there, she engaged with more than twelve thousand students, educators, and community members. She witnessed both the remarkable potential and the real challenges young people face around the world.

The conversations she had and the hunger for opportunity she saw among these communities deeply moved her. She saw young individuals eager to learn, grow, and lead, but lacking access to resources and mentorship.

Those experiences became the catalyst for founding The Trueness Project, a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping children, young people, and communities embrace their authentic identity and develop transformational leadership skills.

Through initiatives such as leadership book donations, mentorship programs, and community outreach efforts, the organization seeks to motivate individuals to believe in their potential and confidently shape their future. For Teresa, this mission is deeply personal. She understands the transformative power of opportunity and education because she experienced it herself.

One such initiative is The Grand Butterfly Gathering, an event that encourages participants to dress as butterflies while celebrating creativity, unity, and environmental responsibility. The event takes place every year on the last Saturday of June and serves as a joyful reminder of the importance of protecting the natural ecosystems that sustain life. Through initiatives like this, she hopes to inspire individuals to recognize their connection to the environment and take meaningful steps toward preserving it.

Promoting Peace and Kindness as Leadership Values

Another core element of Teresa’s philosophy is her commitment to promoting peace and kindness. In a world often marked by division and conflict, she believes leadership must be rooted in compassion and empathy.

“I encourage individuals to become peace ambassadors within their own communities. This means actively choosing understanding over judgment, cooperation over conflict, and kindness over indifference,” Teresa asserts.

She wants people to remember a principle, and about the same, she says, “Leadership can be disciplined yet joyful, purposeful yet fulfilling.”
