Background

The Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism and Google have teamed up to put the city’s homegrown food and beverage businesses in front of wider audiences, using the power of community reviews and digital discovery.

The two organisations launched Map Your Dubai: Insider Edition at an exclusive Breakfast Club event held at the historic Etihad Museum. Ahmad Almheiri, Chief Executive Officer of the Mohammed bin Rashid Establishment for Small and Medium Enterprises Development, joined senior officials, culinary entrepreneurs and regional food content creators at the launch.

The initiative taps into Google Maps’ Local Guides network, a global volunteer community that writes reviews, uploads photos and recommends places. These guides have built 11 curated, themed lists spotlighting Dubai’s best-kept culinary corners and neighbourhood gems.

Users can browse 11 curated lists on MapYourDubai.com and cast votes for their preferred selections through Google Maps.
Anthony Nakache, Managing Director at Google MENA, said the initiative helps small and homegrown F&B businesses expand their reach and connect with more customers.

Almheiri called it a strong example of how public-private collaboration and local voices can turn digital discovery into real economic value for Dubai businesses.
The campaign forms part of DET’s wider From Dubai, For Dubai movement and supports the long-term goals of the Dubai Economic Agenda D33.
