Background
Emarat Petroleum has set up the first branded fuel station in Yerevan, Armenia, and the move is indeed an important one for the company as well as the UAE as part of their expansion plans internationally, and the success of their national companies abroad.
The launch follows a strategic partnership signed last year between Emarat and Armenia’s MegaTrade, part of SIL Capital. It marks Emarat’s first operational presence in the country, building on its established regional business model. Both companies plan to develop an integrated network of service stations across Armenia during the next phase of expansion, operating under Emarat’s global standards for fuel quality, health, safety and environmental practices.
Dr Nariman Al Mulla, UAE Ambassador to Armenia, said Emarat’s expansion into the Armenian market reflected the strength UAE national companies had achieved in competing regionally and internationally. She added that the move demonstrated the depth of economic relations between the two countries and supported the transfer of Emirati expertise in service station management to Armenia’s energy sector.
Burhan Al Hashemi, CEO of Emarat, described the Yerevan launch as a strategic milestone in the company’s global expansion journey, reflecting the success of its long-term partnership model. He said the company aimed to strengthen its global presence further by expanding its station network in Armenia alongside its partners.
Eduard Sukiasyan, Chairman of SIL Capital and shareholder of MegaTrade, said choosing Emarat as a strategic partner reflected its expertise in managing stations to international standards, expressing confidence that the partnership would set new benchmarks for Armenia’s energy sector.
