Dubai Chambers Explores Stronger Trade and Investment Ties With Western Cape

Background 

Various means of boosting the cooperation between Dubai and Western Cape Province regarding investments and trading were discussed at the time when the delegation from Dubai Chambers had a meeting with the Premier of Western Cape Province, Alan Winde. 

The meeting was held in South Africa, and representatives from both parties participated in the discussion to increase business involvement and facilitate investments. Western Cape Province mentioned several areas where the development in such fields could be expected, including renewable energy, agricrocessing industry, technology sector, tourism sector, logistics, and infrastructure. 

In addition, representatives of Western Cape Province highlighted the stability of the business environment, infrastructure, workforce, and investment success story as some competitive advantages for foreign investors. On behalf of Dubai Chambers, participants mentioned their commitment to fostering economic cooperation with companies in Western Cape Province and South Africa. 

Furthermore, representatives from the Chamber pointed out the need to find new areas for cooperation and improve business competitiveness through investments. 

Officials also underlined the role of strategic partnerships between private-sector companies in supporting long-term growth and unlocking opportunities in sectors of shared interest. Dubai Chambers noted that South Africa remains a priority market for Dubai’s business community and was Dubai’s fifth-largest trading partner in Africa last year. 

At the meeting, Dubai Chambers introduced the benefits of doing business within Dubai’s business environment as well as Dubai’s status as a gateway to markets around the world. Another important feature was Dubai’s global status in relation to trade, investments, logistics, tourism, and innovations. 

It should be noted that the business dialogue took place during the visit of the Dubai Chamber of Commerce to Cape Town within the framework of its trade mission, which will facilitate the entry of Dubai businesses into the South African market. 

As expected, both parties were very interested in establishing cooperation and increasing the exchange of trade and investment activities.
